Within the framework of the implementation of the second round of the activity programme of the Recovery Fund “Latvia’s Recovery and Resilience Mechanism Plan 5.1 reform and investment direction “Increasing productivity through increasing the volume of R&D investments” reform 5.1.1.r. “Innovation management and motivation of private R&D investments” investment 5.1.1.2.i. “Support instrument for research and internationalisation””, SIA “MAŠĪNBŪVES KOMPETENCES CENTRS” is implementing project No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/2/24/A/CFLA/008 “Support for Research by the Mechanical Engineering Competence Centre” from 1 June 2024 until 31 December 2027.
Within the framework of the project “Support for Research by the Mechanical Engineering Competence Centre”, SIA FORTES commenced implementation of research project No. J.1.1 “Development and Testing of an Automatic Biomass Carbonisation Equipment Prototype in a Real Operating Environment” on 1 March 2025. The objective of the research project is to develop automatic biomass carbonisation equipment (a prototype), as well as to carry out its testing in a real operating environment.
The research project is planned to be implemented by 31 March 2026. The total planned project costs amount to EUR 673,920.00, including EUR 418,032.00 in financing from the European Union Recovery Fund.
During the reporting period (01.01.2026–31.03.2026), Activity 2 of the research project – “Prototype Development” – was implemented. The objective (intermediate result) of the reporting period was achieved by carrying out modelling of flue gas flow, water heat exchanger flow and balance, and by selecting the optimal model. Several CFD computer simulations were performed, and flow and pressure drops were analysed. Heat transfer was evaluated, and the heating surface and flow parameters were optimised.
The objective of the reporting period was fully achieved.
